Corvias teams with Army Wife Network to bring Field Exercise™: Battle Buddies to three Corvias installations
Corvias Military Living is proud to team with Army Wife Network (AWN), a multi-media resource site for Army spouses, to bring Field Exercises™: Battle Buddies program to three Corvias installations in 2014. Field Exercise™ is an energetic, four-hour seminar series designed to empower and rejuvenate military spouses by providing them a time to connect, share support, obtain resources and enjoy camaraderie. Spouses attending the events experience networking opportunities, dinner, and interactive discussions related to challenges and opportunities faced by military spouses. AWN began holding the events in 2007 and has organized the Field Exercise™ series (FE™: Priceless Packages & FE™: Love Military Life) at 15 Army posts across the country.
The first Corvias sponsored 2014 Field Exercises™: Battle Buddies seminar will be held at Fort Bragg April 3-4. Corvias and AWN will host additional events at Fort Meade in September and Fort Sill in November. Visit the AWN website for more information.
In addition to sponsoring the Field Exercises™, Corvias is embarking on a year-long campaign themed “Heart Your Home.” Beginning in February, Corvias will regularly contribute to the AWN site under the Relocation/PCS Column. These articles will provide useful advice and first hand insight about communities on or near the installations served by Corvias. Topics will include moving, family, relationships, and ways to “Heart Your Home.”
The campaign is aligned with AWN’s mission is to empower Army families with comprehensive information, programs, and opportunities. The partnership with Corvias Military Living will continue that mission with Army families everywhere, including Corvias residents.
“We are excited to support the AWN mission,” said Amanda Filipowski, communications director, Corvias Military Living. “Much like our mission, AWN is committed to providing resources and support to our military families. Taking care of families is what we do.”
To keep up-to-date with the partnership, read future editions of Corvias Community News and follow @CorviasGroup on Twitter. You will find more information about AWN at www.armywifenetwork.com.
Our goal is to provide the best homes, community, service and value. Each year, Corvias Military Living contracts an independent property management research firm, SatisFacts, to send a resident satisfaction survey.
You will receive a survey notice via a mailed postcard and by email from “residentsurveys.com”. You have until mid-March to complete it. Participation is voluntary, but encouraged. Everyone who participates will be entered into a gift drawing to win a mini iPad. Contact your community office for more information.
Towards the end of February, 25 percent of Corvias Military Living residents will receive a housing survey in the mail. This is a prime opportunity for you and your family to tell us how well we are doing in meeting your on-post housing needs.
By completing and returning the survey and the enclosed prize entry form, you are eligible for a drawing to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards from Corvias Military Living.
Congratulations to the winners from the December 2013 survey drawing: the Dobbs family, the Keys family, the Braun family, the Denson family and the Penn family.
We are looking for more great residents just like you! Any current resident, who refers a friend to live on post, will receive a $250 gift card once the applicant moves in! Contact your Community or Leasing Office for more information.
Hurry – all applications for Our Future Scholarships must be submitted by Thursday, February 13. These scholarships are awarded to high school seniors with plans of attending a four-year university or college, and whose parent is an active-duty Service Member stationed at one of the 13 installations Corvias manages housing. Corvias Foundation also offers grant opportunities to spouses of active-duty Service Members. Go to corviasfoundation.org to learn more about the available scholarships and educational grants from Corvias Foundation. Applications are available online.
Exciting enhancements at your community centers continue! By the end of February, you will notice the WiFi speed at the community centers is faster when your device connects to the Internet. Corvias’s technology team will install a new wireless Internet system at each community center. The new system will increase the wireless range and security, and improve Internet speed and performance. The only thing you must do is type the new password in each device, which you can obtain from your Community Office.
We understand the importance of wireless Internet access, and hope the new system will provide a better experience for you and your family while hanging out in your community center. The boosted WiFi is another company-wide improvement. So no matter which Corvias community you call home, you will have a consistent resident experience. We look forward to continuing to serve you, improve your quality of life and make Fort Polk a great place to live!
Still using plastic grocery bags at the Commissary? Consider bringing your own reusable bags. It takes a 15-year-old tree to produce 700 grocery bags.
It is time to start thinking about filing your income tax returns. The Fort Polk’s Installation Tax Center assists Soldiers, retirees and their eligible family members with free preparation of federal and state tax returns and electronic filing. Filing returns electronically, or e-filing, means tax refunds will be directly deposited into bank accounts in as little as 10 days.
The military community is highly encouraged to use this free service, which will provide fast payment of tax refunds without the high cost of commercial tax preparer fees. Each year the free tax services at the ITAC save the Fort Sill community hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax return preparation fees while ensuring taxpayers receive every credit, deduction and exemption to which they are entitled.
The Tax Center is located at Building 2505 on the corner of Alabama and 23rd Street. Operating hours will be Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. If you have complex tax returns, make sure you come prepared with all appropriate documents.
