Corvias supports recycling and the JRTC & Fort Polk Net Zero Waste diversion efforts. All Corvias residents can take approved recyclables to the Fort Polk Recycling Center. The benefit of recycling using the Fort Polk Recycling Center is that the funds generated from their operations are reinvested back into the installation. These funds help Fort Polk put on family functions such as Freedom Fest and a portion is even redistributed back to the tenant units for family fun activities.
The Recycling Center is located on the corner of Georgia Avenue and Maine Avenue, next to Wheelock Fitness Center. They accept white copy paper, mixed paper (magazines, newspapers, cereal boxes, etc.), cardboard (corrugated), aluminum cans (empty), #1 clear plastic containers (empty with no lids), scrap metal (DD-1348 may be required), used cooking oil, used motor oil, automotive batteries, used ink and toner cartridges. There is also a 24-hour drop off point that accepts cardboard, aluminum and #1 clear plastic containers.
